Impact-Driven Design Process

The Uber took a sharp U-turn, way too fast.
My friend, who is pregnant, instinctively cradled her belly. In that moment of discomfort, a question hit me: Why is there no simple, discreet way to ask for a gentler ride?
We have Uber Comfort for space, XL for groups, and Green for the planet. But where is the option for care?
That's why I designed a concept: Uber Extra Care 💚
Uber Extra Care: Your peace of mind is the priority.
It's a simple addition to the UI. With one tap, the driver receives a clear, standardized notification:

🌞 Back from the long 4th of July weekend - coffee in hand, inbox chaos, and job tabs open...
I spotted a UX Designer role at TikTok Careers 👀
Excited, I clicked Apply... but what greeted me next made the UX part of my brain short-circuit little⚡
Came in the sign-in screen - and here’s where things broke:
- Entered phone number
- Got the OTP, entered it
- Sign In button lit up - right below the code field. So I clicked it.
❌ Error. I hadn’t agreed to the Terms & Conditions - the checkbox was buried below the button. No visual cues. And suddenly, the whole flow felt broken. 😵💫
That’s a mental model + visual hierarchy miss.
✅ So... I redesigned it. Just a tiny tweak. A shift in the checkbox. A button state fix. That’s it.

After sharing my Uber Extra Care concept, I ended up talking to the friend who actually inspired it... And like any honest user conversation… she told me something I completely missed.
She said “Nandini… even if the ride is gentle, sometimes I just need help getting things in and out of the car.”
That one line changed the whole direction of the problem.
So here’s the evolution of the idea:

A helpful human assistant who arrives with your Uber to support the moments where a ride alone isn’t enough.
